Good revision notes are concise, well-organised, and personally created.
Stage 1: Comprehensive Notes (During Term)
Create detailed notes from lectures, seminars, and textbook readings. Include case summaries, statutory provisions, and academic commentary.
Stage 2: Topic Summaries (Start of Revision)
Condense into topic summaries of 2-3 pages each. For each topic, include the key legal principles, leading cases, relevant statutory provisions, key academic arguments, and any reform proposals.
Stage 3: One-Page Summaries (Final Revision)
In the final week, condense each topic summary into a single A4 page. These one-pagers are what you review the night before the exam.
Formatting Tips
- Colour-code by type: cases in blue, statutes in green, academic commentary in red.
- Use diagrams for complex relationships.
- Include case comparison tables for topics where multiple cases address the same issue.
- Add exam tips in the margins.
