Fair Use Policy

1. Purpose

LexIQ is designed to support your legal education — not to replace it. This Fair Use Policy sets out how we expect you to use the Platform responsibly, and explains the usage limits that apply to each subscription tier. By using LexIQ, you agree to comply with this Policy alongside our Terms of Service.

2. Intended Use

LexIQ's AI tools — including essay marking, the AI tutor chat, quiz generation, flashcards, SQE preparation, and the study planner — are intended solely for personal educational purposes. You may use them to:

• Practise and revise legal concepts for your university modules or SQE examinations
• Receive AI-generated feedback on your own essays and written work
• Generate quizzes and flashcards to test your knowledge
• Plan and organise your study schedule
• Discuss legal principles with the AI tutor to deepen your understanding

3. Prohibited Uses

You must not use LexIQ to:

• Submit AI-generated content as your own work — LexIQ's feedback and outputs are learning aids, not submissions. Passing AI-generated text off as your own in coursework, exams, or assessments may constitute academic misconduct under your institution's regulations.
• Provide legal advice to others — LexIQ does not provide legal advice. You must not present AI outputs as professional legal guidance to any third party.
• Circumvent usage limits — Creating multiple accounts, using automated scripts, or exploiting technical loopholes to exceed your plan's limits is prohibited.
• Share your account — Your LexIQ account is personal to you. Sharing login credentials with others violates this Policy and our Terms of Service.
• Reverse-engineer or scrape — Attempting to extract, copy, or reverse-engineer the AI models, prompts, or underlying technology is strictly prohibited.

4. Usage Limits by Plan

Each subscription tier includes specific usage allowances. These limits exist to ensure a high-quality experience for all users and to manage the cost of AI processing. Current limits are as follows:

We reserve the right to adjust these limits with reasonable notice. Any changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification.

5. Excessive or Abusive Use

Even within your plan's limits, we monitor for patterns of use that place disproportionate load on our systems or that suggest automated or non-genuine usage. Examples include:

• Submitting hundreds of near-identical essays or quiz requests in rapid succession
• Using the chat tutor to generate bulk content rather than for genuine learning
• Uploading content that is not your own work for the purpose of obtaining feedback to resell

If we detect excessive or abusive use, we may temporarily throttle your access, issue a warning, or — in serious cases — suspend your account. We will always attempt to contact you before taking permanent action.

6. AI Output Disclaimer

All AI-generated content on LexIQ is provided for educational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. While we strive for accuracy, AI outputs may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. You should always verify AI feedback against authoritative sources such as textbooks, case law databases, and your lecturers' guidance.

LexIQ is not a substitute for qualified legal advice. If you need advice on a real legal matter, please consult a qualified solicitor or barrister.

7. Academic Integrity

We strongly encourage you to use LexIQ as a study companion, not a shortcut. The most effective way to use the Platform is to attempt work yourself first, then use LexIQ's feedback to identify areas for improvement. This approach builds genuine understanding and prepares you for exams where AI tools are not available.

Many universities have specific policies on the use of AI tools. It is your responsibility to check and comply with your institution's academic integrity policies.

8. Reporting Concerns

If you believe another user is misusing LexIQ, or if you encounter AI outputs that are clearly incorrect or harmful, please contact us at [email protected]. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Fair Use Policy from time to time. Material changes will be notified via email or in-app notification at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
